The case for the right to rob you
You’ll laugh. You’ll cry
And by the end of this short video you will never look at “government” the same way again.
In humor there is sometimes great truth.
This guy is a genius.

“That would only apply to those who chose (or were allowed) to participate in the election and abide by its decisions. That was a very small fraction of what the framers of the Constitution considered to be ‘the governed’, and includes none of their children and no one alive today.”
This is true, but I would argue that your issues with democracy have gotten better since then, and now essentially include nearly everyone above the age of 18. We, “the governed,” could, at any time, choose to elect congressmen or state legislators to ratify the constitution and remove any mention of taxation.
Of course, I understand that you may want to do this, but by nature of not holding the majority opinion that your individual rights are stomped on.
It just seems to me, and I could be wrong, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time (I used to be a big Iraq war supporter) that it is impossible to secure each individuals rights at all times. Our democratic republic is an imperfect, but perhaps the least imperfect, system of protecting the most rights for the most time. We could CERTAINLY do better, and our government is increasingly failing in some regards, (but improving in others).
Basically, I understand and agree in concept with the video — taxation is an evil. I am, however, not willing to drop the notion that it is a necessary evil. So maybe, I just need a few more videos… or to read Rothbard, which I haven’t yet.
Larken, Larken, Larken. Why not just send an e-mail to the IRS and ask them to audit you for the past 3, 7, 10, 15 years. You are playing with fire.
“God authorized gov. because if man is left to himself he will become law less and do what seems right in this own eyes. And then anarchy will ensue.”
Governments are organizations composed of and run *by men*, so the idea that some men – and we’re talking about politicians, remember, not exactly the best men on the planet as a class – will somehow magically cause other men to behave better than they would have if left to themselves doesn’t make much sense to me.
And I’d love your bible citation where god ‘authorizes government’. He seems no fan of any government but that of men freely following his word. When setting Saul up as King, Samuel says “But ye have this day rejected your God, who Himself saveth you out of all your calamities and your distresses; and ye have said unto Him: Nay, but set a king over us.”
Here’s Samuel and God chatting about it:
“But ye have this day rejected your God, who Himself saveth you out of all your calamities and your distresses; and ye have said unto Him: Nay, but set a king over us.
“And the LORD said unto Samuel: ‘Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee; for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected Me, that I should not be king over them. …
And Samuel passing on the good word:
“And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.
“And he said: ‘This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: he will take your sons, and appoint them unto him, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and they shall run before his chariots.
“And he will appoint them unto him for captains of thousands, and captains of fifties; and to plow his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and the instruments of his chariots.
“And he will take your daughters to be perfumers, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. And he will take your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work. He will take the tenth of your flocks; and ye shall be his servants.
“And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king whom ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not answer you in that day.”
Hardly what I’d consider a ringing endorsement of government.
My question would be, how would Mr. Rose perpose to pay for the ligitimate functions of Gov. And please don’t say that we can live without some form of gov. That just won’t fly. Also, we , us here and now r giving our consent to be taxed, by not altering the constitution. A rule that must be rembered is that all govs. r popular if at this moment it is not being over thrown. God authorized gov. because if man is left to himself he will become law less and do what seems right in this own eyes. And then anarchy will ensue.
“The difference is that the delegates to the constitutional congress were democratically elected, and thus derived their authority from consent of the governed.”
That would only apply to those who chose (or were allowed) to participate in the election and abide by its decisions. That was a very small fraction of what the framers of the Constitution considered to be ‘the governed’, and includes none of their children and no one alive today.
David, you are making an important point. Well said.
