Rashida Tlaib in group that calls Jews ‘satanic’

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Muslim Democratic newcomer to Congress from Michigan, already has established a reputation in Washington as a radical.

She has lashed out at President Trump with a foul tirade, was accused of lying to her voters and insisted on using Thomas Jefferson’s Quran for her swearing-in, perhaps not realizing he likely owned it to learn more about the Muslim Barbary pirates who were kidnapping and killing Americans at the time.

Now an investigation by the Daily Caller News Foundation has uncovered anti-Semitic ties that “run deeper than previously known.”

“Tlaib is a member of the Facebook group ‘Palestinian American Congress,’ where members often demonize Jews,” the investigation revealed. “The group’s founder, Palestinian activist Maher Abdel-qader, was a key fundraiser for Tlaib and organized campaign events for her around the country.”

One year ago, Abdel-qader posted online an anti-Semitic video that “claimed Jews aren’t actually Jewish, and invented their historical claim to Israel and secretly control the media,” the report said.

“The video, which described Jews as ‘satanic,’ also questioned whether 6 million Jews actually died in the Holocaust,” reported the Daily Caller.

“Research the truth about the Holocaust, and you’ll definitely start to question what you thought you knew,” says the narrator in the video.

The video appeared on the page of a Facebook group to which Tlaib belongs.

Nor is that the only example, the report said.

“In several other posts to the group, Abdel-qader insisted that Jews aren’t actually from Israel. In one October 2017 post, he accused Israeli settlers of training children ‘to terrorize Palestinian civilians.’ Other members of the group have added posts accusing Jews of controlling the media and perpetuating other anti-semitic stereotypes,” the Daily Caller revealed.

Tlaib has been a member of the Facebook group for nearly a year, the report said.

In addition, Tlaib gave Abdel-qader a medal for his help with her campaign, reported Voices of New York, and he took credit on Facebook for being an important fundraiser for her.

Abdel-qader responded to DCNF inquiries with a denial that he said there are “fake Jews.”

“What I said, Many Jews living now in the Middle East are the descendants of the great Jewish Khazar empire in Europe,” he wrote.

Tlaib’s chief of staff, Ryan Anderson, did not return a request for comment, the Daily Caller reported.

Tlaib also was supported by Women’s March co-chair Linda Sarsour, who has supported Nation of Islam founder Louis Farrakhan, a notorious anti-Semite who has praised Hitler, the report said.

Meanwhile, the Clarion Project found additional concerns.

“Among the guests at her post-swearing-in dinner was one Abbas Hamideh, an anti-Semite and supporter of Hezbollah, one of the world’s most powerful terrorist organizations,” it said.

Hamideh has expressed admiration for Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, Clarion said.

Lebanese reporter and analyst Huda el-Husseini asked: “Why does a new member of Congress behave in this way by publicly supporting a person who is turn publicly supports Hezbollah, which in turn is supported by Iran? I came to my conclusion at the very moment Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited the Middle East to discuss a way to block Iran’s hostile opposition and its intervention in the affairs of Arab countries, its support of Hamas in Gaza at the expense of the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah, while at the same time Washington encourages Lebanon to do whatever it can to reduce Hezbollah’s influence.”

He added, “Maybe Tlaib should ask Hamideh what the Lebanese people are asking: To where does Hezbollah want to take Lebanon?”
