Busted: Arrests Made In Felony Election Fraud Case Dems Always Tell Us Isn’t Happening

The Democrats love to scoff at the idea that election fraud is rampant, so they are no doubt turning a blind eye to the election fraud ring that was just busted in California.

Eric Holder, who famously said election fraud “doesn’t exist,” in particular.

Meanwhile, in reality:

As the Los Angeles Times explained:

Using cash and cigarettes as lures, the defendants approached homeless people on skid row and asked them to forge signatures on state ballot measure petitions, and voter registration forms, the district attorney’s office said. The defendants — some of whom were scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday — face several criminal charges, including circulating a petition with fake names, voter fraud and registering a fictitious person.

The charges, which were filed three weeks ago but made public Tuesday, followed a Los Angeles Police Department crackdown on suspected election fraud on skid row earlier in the year.

“They paid individuals to sign the names,” lead Officer Deon Joseph told the LA Times in September. “That’s an assault on our democracy.”

Interestingly enough, the Times did not mention which party or group would have benefitted from this racket.

Joseph noted that while this type of scam is not widespread across the state, they can certainly be found on Skid Row.

“People hired to help qualify initiatives for the ballot are often paid per signature collected, typically $1 to $2, but officials said a recent slew of proposed ballot initiatives had pushed the rate as high as $6 a signature,” the Times explains.

In September, California Governor Jerry Brown (D) vetoed a bill that would have banned the practice of paying per-signature for ballot signature collections, citing a concern that the law could have given “the wealthiest interests” more control.

Kirkland Kauzava Washington, 38, Harold Bennett, 53, and Louis Thomas Wise, 36, Richard Howard, 62, Rose Makeda Sweeney, 42, Christopher Joseph Williams, 59, Jakara Fati Mardis, 35, Norman Hall, 61, and Nickey Demelvin Huntley, 44, Kevin Clark Torrance, 43, and Ashley Owen, 29 are the nine who have been charged, and face varying charges and between four to six years in prison, the Times reports.

The operation was busted by undercover officers and hidden cameras that exposed a table allegedly placed outside the Midnight Mission in LA, where homeless people lined up for food or shelter.

“We didn’t charge any homeless people,” a spokeswoman for the District Attorney, Shiara Davila-Morales, said.

Head of Lost Angeles County elections, Dean Logan, openly admitted he was concerned about “any activity that causes voters to lose faith in the process,” having previously stated that any forged ballot signatures would not get past his office.

Social media users took this as an opportunity to gently remind Democrats they always swear up and down this sort of thing never happens.
