College “readiness” more important than success
The public educational system is totally broken, and if you need proof look no further than considerations of the Colorado Board of Education to allow local districts to cut science and social studies from graduation requirements.
Incredibly, these “proposed reductions…stem from the group’s conclusion that the bar should be college readiness, not success.”
This crazy line of thinking must stem from our obsession with test scores over true student success.
Our attempt to “educate the public” has turned into a system of installing mechanized, non-integrated information into students’ heads without revealing what that knowledge has the power to do.
