A high school in one of the nation’s top sanctuary counties for illegal immigrants confirmed that a student was infected with tuberculosis last week.

Watkins Mill High School in Gaithersburg, which is in Montgomery Country, Maryland, “sent a letter home to parents Thursday” about the infected student.

According to the local CBS affiliate, “though the school believes the risk of any other students having contracted the sickness is small, TB officials within the county Department of Health and Human Services recommend testing for all students and staff who were in any class or after-school activity with the infected individual between October 2013 and January 2014.”

As Judicial Watch noted, “Montgomery County has long offered illegal aliens a variety of perks and protections” and came under “intense fire a few years ago over a series of high-profile murders committed by illegal immigrants who had been arrested by local police and released.” Due to the “the county’s sanctuary policies they were not reported to federal authorities for deportation despite their criminal histories.” The County also spent $100,000 in taxpayer funds to help illegal immigrants fill out paperwork to receive temporary amnesty under President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action plan that he unilaterally instituted.

Montgomery County was considered the second-best place in the country for illegal immigrants to go because of its lenient policies.

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley (D) has said that all of the illegal immigrant children flooding across the border should be given “refugee” status and not sent back to “certain death.”
