Report: Pentagon to Allow Some Illegal Immigrants to Enlist
President Barack Obama’s Defense Department will reportedly allow some illegal immigrants to enlist in the military, where they will potentially be put on an expedited path to citizenship.
According to a Friday report in the Huffington Post, “Pentagon officials have approved a policy that would allow a limited group” of illegal immigrant DREAMers “to enlist in the military” under the Military Accessions Vital to National Interest (MAVNI) pilot program.
The outlet reported that the Obama administration has not “formally announced” the decision, which would apply to illegal immigrants who have been granted temporary amnesty under Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
As Breitbart News reported two weeks ago, Jessica Wright, the Acting Under Secretary for Personnel and Readiness at the Pentagon, testified that the Obama administration was working with the Department of Justice and the Defense Department about expanding the MAVNI program to include some illegal immigrant DREAMers. She said the administration would have a more “affirmative” answer by the end of the summer.
Testifying at a Senate Subcommittee hearing in Chicago on “Immigrant Enlistment,” Wright said the MAVNI program allowed those with “very specific skills” to enroll. Around 3,000 medical professionals and those fluent in various languages have qualified, but Wright “said that Spanish was not one of the languages that is considered ‘vital to the national interest’ because, ‘we have a number of Spanish speakers within our military.'”
DREAMers cannot currently enlist in the military, and the Huffington Post reported that the administrative change would allow some illegal immigrants “with critical language or medical skills to enlist in the armed forces — considerably limiting the number of Dreamers who would be eligible.” It is unclear whether the Obama administration will now consider Spanish skills to be something that is “vital to the national interest” for the purposes of MAVNI.

Harold: given the cowards in Bush staff who skipped the drafts and got us into this mess. anyone that is willing to risk their lives for this nation has my respect. And I was military wife. There is something disgusting to see the constant name calling from people that cheered the death of so many to enrich themselves from drug, oil, gas and any thing they could get. Yes DRUGS. WE will get there but they sure keep finding distractions. I do wish Obama would be more assertive and through the bums in jail.
I’ve seen the video and can guarantee, that anyone who wishes to view it will not be eating snacks. It is but one example of the horrific inhumane ideology that permeates a culture hell bent on controlling the masses. Most of the Cartel leadership is run by small minded men, whose ruthlessness has the elite “big wigs” peeing their pants, including those in the USA. As for the peoples of Mexico and Central and South America? 600 years of Roman Catholic oppression and covert secular genocide has not purged the “pagan” evil from those indigenous populations. The people, for the most part, still remain in poverty and those that we would call poor in America are far wealthier than those who are in the same situation there. No amount of religious or secular influence will eradicate the ancestral values and traditions of people who serve as vassals and serfs, or who are in – involuntary servitude to a religion and governments who care very little for its people. One only need watch the movie….The Mission….to see how today’s modern connection to the past is but a mere reflection of what is still going on in societies that continue to suffer the indignities of slavery. But, closer to home, the impact that such atrocities have on people in the USA is very telling. We have seen numerous incidents where Mexican Army personnel are escorting Drug Cartels and Human Smugglers into the USA. Indeed, much of our public lands in Arizona, from the border to State Route 8 (about 80 miles) – are closed or restricted to travelers, tourists, campers, etc., due to the full time presence of ARMED – CRIMINAL Drug Cartel members and smugglers. Indeed, the situation is so critical that U.S. Citizens who violate the warning are subject to arrest. This is the new America!!
