Report: $4.5 Billion in Food Stamps Benefits Improperly Spent
According to a report published earlier this week, some $4.5 billion has been inappropriately applied to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps, including benefits that were administered to 2,000 dead people in New York and Massachusetts.
Sen. Tom Coburn’s (R-Okla.) new archive of government waste, entitled the 2012 “Waste Book,” found that “7,236 people in these states are receiving duplicate benefits, while 286 are on state lists that should exclude them from receiving food stamps.” This translates into $1.4 million in improper payments per month, or $147.03 for each beneficiary — whether they’re dead or alive.
Detailed under the section “More money for the marijuana munchies,” Coburn reported that in three states some recipients collected SNAP benefits simply because they smoke marijuana. “Marijuana has been linked to an increased appetite, known as getting the ‘munchies,’ so perhaps it is no surprise the states of Maine, New Mexico, and Oregon gave extra food stamp benefits to users of the illegal drug,” the report affirms.

Florida and Georgia are going to drug test welfare recepients next year which will decrease leeches off society. The majority of people who are getting entilements today are illegal aliens children. If we enact “No Birthright Citizenship Act” this to will dramatically decrease welfare roles. This legislation passed the House but never passed the Senate. The millions of illegal aliens that come here illegally (poor and uneducated) instantly go on welfare as soon as they find a address to use even if it is a P.O Box. Illegals use P.O boxes to receive entitlements to Mexico as well. This bleeding needs to stop.
If we were to enact the “REAL ID ACT” and the “SAVE ACT” (which also passed the House but was stalled in the Senate) in all of the states this would deter illegal aliens from making the U.S.A their home. Then make their homeland accountable for their citizens criminal acts. Mexico is no ally of ours and they because of the influx from illegal aliens from that country is why our country is in dire straits.
Is funny in a way because food stamps started as a response to our surplus of grain and other stored food. So they felt it would help both sides. Especially help reduce the cost government aid for those storage rotting food.
