Ron Paul Vindicated on Iran

A week ago Ron Paul tried to convey how the ever-tightening sanctions on Iran–which may soon include an embargo on its oil–look from an Iranian point of view: It’s as if China were to blockade the Gulf of Mexico, he said–“an act of war”.

This is sheer conjecture; Ron Paul is no expert on Iran. But now someone who does have relevant credentials has weighed in, and the picture he paints is disturbingly reminiscent of the one Paul painted. It suggests we may be closer to war than most people realize.

Vali Nasr, in addition to being a highly respected expert on the Middle East, belongs to a family that, according to Lobelog’s sources, has “a direct line into Iranian Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s inner circle.” In a Bloomberg View piece that is getting a lot of attention, Nasr reports that “Iran has interpreted sanctions that hurt its oil exports, which account for about half of government revenue, as acts of war.” Indeed, the Iranian leadership now sees U.S. policy as “aimed at regime change.”

In this light, Iran’s recent threats–notably that it will close the Strait of Hormuz in response to an oil embargo–shouldn’t be dismissed, says Nasr. “The regime in Tehran is ready for a fight.”

The good news is that Nasr thinks war can be averted. The bad news is that to accomplish this America and other Western powers need to “imagine how the situation looks from Tehran”–not exactly a favorite pastime among American politicians these days.

And now… the rest of the story. …..

Most of us would agree with on Paul on that but fellow who is pushing on Obama using the Cristian Zionists and the Lobby?? The Zionist and evangelist is part of US Harold why are we letting them control the voice of the people??? Get rid of the Lobby that pays the Congress and tell those “voices of God” what a blasphemy making that claim, so lets tell them they are unconstitutional so get back in their churches and stay out of politics or stop tax free ASAP. That is the problem everyone yells but no one act and the 99 are preempted by extremes because they are the only one risking their job for it. Read that article about the Seniors in Salinas and the old gold towns and I am going to raise hell. Contacting all food banks and help center I have supported for years and tell the place Senior on the top list, Senior and children, as well as homeless of course but pay more attention to they needy not professional free loaders.

My free advice for Ron Paul: as Roscoe Bartlett said this week, you must explain your foreign policy views. This is especially true since the powers that be now report that Iran is building IBM launch pads in Venezeula. You have an unfair burden; you are proposing a paradigm shift, so you must give a substantial major foriegn policy address at a venue like a University, with more detail and comprehensiveness than you can in a debate. It’s necessary to dispel smears.

I am a Ron Paul donor and supporter too. You may have to update this if Iran is building IBM launch sites in Venezuela. As Roscoe Bartlett said, Ron Paul needs to give an address of foreign policy.
