Pima County Sheriff Dupnik Blamed Right Wing for Slaughter But Details Emerge of Multiple Contacts between Jared Loughner and the Sheriffs office over Multiple Death Threats
Only the left can get away with pointing their bloody fingers at everyone else. Robert Tracinski opined:
Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik set the tone right away by declaring: “When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government—the anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.” Sheriff Dupnik previously made news for refusing to comply with Arizona’s new immigration-enforcement law, so he is using this tragedy to beat his favorite hobby horse.
Subjected to the polite and highly effective cross-examination for which Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly is becoming famous, Dupnik was forced to admit that this statement was “just my opinion” and that when it comes to the shooter’s actual motive, “I don’t have that information yet.” That’s the standard of professionalism at the Pima County Sheriff’s office: take an investigation that is hours old, with a suspect about whom they know next to nothing, and use it to engage in baseless speculation to promote a political agenda.
Sheriff Dupnik was hardly alone. This is what the left has been waiting for ever since the rise of the Tea Party movement: an act of violence that would allow them to replay 1995, smearing the right as terrorists or terrorist sympathizers and thereby suppressing all political opposition to the left. Don’t take my word for it. Listen to the Democratic operative who laid out the game plan for The Politico: “They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers. Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”
