Is this what we’re fighting for?

No one could make this up if they tried
No this is not a spoof or a put on.
This is what’s actually going on in the field.
What kind of psychopathic criminals would send American troops to fight and die under conditions like this?
By the way, the US and UK news media rants on and on about the Taliban supporting themselves with opium and heroin trading.
Since the invasion, Afghanistan now provides at least 80& of the world’s opium. It’s a $3 billion business.
Note that the Taliban’s take is around $200 million.
For people who can do math, that’s less than 10% of the total score.
So who’s getting the rest?
Friends of Uncle Sam.

The simple fact is this: you cannot make other people in other cultures into what we are in our culture. Sometimes that’s good; sometimes, as here, it is not good. The people of Afghanistan have to WANT their freedom. Frankly, as many are now looking back on the days of Taliban tyranny as “the good old days”, I suggest that we haven’t a prayer into making them what they are not – members of Western Civilization.
Of course, our own culture is going down the tubes. Indeed, I rather thought in the beginning that the men were talking about OUR army. I’ve heard stories of drug use and anyone who remembers Viet Nam knows that our soldiers there were compromised by a lot of mixed cultural messages.
We should forget the Taliban (except to bomb them into the stone age when they help bin Laden) and concentrate on destroying A.Q. wherever we find it in ANY country. But as we don’t even provide the most basic care in the protection of our own borders, that seems impossible in these days of political correctness.
