A reader asked me why I haven’t wasted any ink or electrons blasting this absurd stimulus program

I’ll tell you why: Because I’m disgusted. And not just by the Democrats.

Those Republicans who spent last year running up a trillion-dollar deficit have become instant fiscal conservatives now that they’re out of power.

These are the same Republicans, you’ll recall, who essentially locked out of their convention last summer the only true fiscal conservative in their party, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas.

Don’t kid yourself, little people. If John McCain had won the election we’d be digging just as deep a deficit.

Here’s the difference between the Democrats and the Republicans in Washington: The Democrats are thieves. The Republicans are crooks.
But at least the Democrats don’t pretend. If you think that little preppie cheerleader from Texas was a fiscal conservative, then ask yourself why he didn’t push through the balanced budget amendment as the first order of business upon assuming office in 2001.
