News that Hilda Solis’ confirmation as Labor Secretary has been abruptly canceled because of tax problems is just the latest in a string of news stories showing that Obama’s previous promise to “save this world” may not be true after all.
Ms. Solis’ tax woes can now be added to a list of Obama cabinet nominees who previously ‘neglected’ to pay their taxes or have had other tax irregularities that includes Nancy Killefer, Tom Daschle, and Timothy Geithner. Other appointees who are in political hot water include Bill Richardson, who withdrew as nominee for Obama’s Commerce Secretary because of a kickback scandal, and Hilary Clinton, who may have violated the constitution by accepting the role of Secretary of State.
On February 1st the L.A. Times reported that the Obama Administration is going to continue the practice of renditioning prisoners to countries that torture in the name of the War On Terror.
