[Ed. note ~ Does anyone else find it interesting that this liberal rag would feature this story, but not mention the increasing numbers of Hispanic gang members receiving military training to use against our civilian population? I mean, one has to look no further than Mexico to see the results of training gang members in the military – they leave the military, join the drug cartels and kill police and civilians!]

The Southern Poverty Law Center and the U.S. Department of Defense continue their decades-old skirmish concerning racial extremists in the armed forces. It’s time for a truce.

In late November, the center wrote to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, citing a study released in July and titled “White Supremacist Recruitment of Military Personnel since 9/11.”

The letter appropriately cites part of the study that indicates supremacist leaders encourage followers — “ghost skins” who have no criminal history involving extremist activities and display no overt signs of racism — to infiltrate the military. The leaders of extremist groups hope their followers will be able to recruit additional members and gain military training that could be used for illegal purposes.
