A man shot and killed during a carjacking over the weekend has been identified as Pedro Rodriguez, Conroe police said on Monday.
Rodriguez and his friend, Jaime Gonzalez, 34, of Madisonville, were robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning. Rodriguez, whose age was not available, was from Jalisco, Mexico, but had lived in Madisonville for 10 years, police said.
Luis Enrique Rivera, 29, and Luis Antonio Menendez, 19, were arrested and charged with capital murder.
Both remained in the Montgomery County Jail on Monday without bail. Both also have INS/immigration holds by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to jail records.
According to police, Rodriguez and Gonzalez met one of the suspects in a local restaurant. He invited them to his house to look at a vehicle he was trying to sell. They went to the house, picked up another man and then headed to the store, police said.
During that trip, Rodriguez was shot in the back of the head, said authorities, who declined to name the shooter because the case is still under investigation.
Gonzalez jumped out and called police. Rivera and Menendez fled in the vehicle, authorities said. Rodriguez later was found dead inside the abandoned vehicle, authorities said.
