Calif. Responsible For Officer’s Death
A statewide police union joined Sheriff Joe Arpaio on Tuesday in blaming lax illegal immigration enforcement in California for the death of a Valley Police Officer. The man who killed a Buckeye Police Officer Rolando Tirado was in the country illegally and allowed to stay in California despite felony convictions, police said.

The Arizona Police Association represents more than 10,000 officers from at least 20 different agencies across the state. Union leader Brian Livingston said, “This person should have been deported back in 2005 when his criminal activity originally started.” More than a clerical error is behind Cesar Quiroz’s ability to stay in the United States after he was released from a California prison in 2009, Livingston said. “A mistake happens once. When a mistake happens repeatedly it’s no longer a mistake but a purposeful event,” added Livingston.
