Arizona – HB2572 introduced – CAFR transparency

Arizona government is taking a step in the right direction per CAFR accountability and visibility. Suport this bill’s passage.

HB2572 was introduced 02/01/11 which focuses on creating a database of all local government CAFRs on the city; county; school district; university; pension fund; and enterprise level for Arizona constituents to access.

My recommended modification to the bill was to require the local governments in AZ to put the  following phrase on every tax bill that goes out: “We strongly recommend that you carefully review your local government Annual Financial Reports, the CAFR” giving the link to the database displaying all of the Arizona local government CAFRs. Additionally that more focus was given to showing fund balances held within advance forward liablity investment funds.
