Oprah Once Again Puts Her Foot In Her Mouth

oprah-08At this very moment, Oprah Winfrey is airing her interview with Ed Doud, the father of Nadya Suleman, who recently gave birth to octuplets. During her interview Oprah asked Mr. Doud who was going to pay for raising the new addition to his family. The reason she asked, Oprah said, was because the American people are wondering if these eight babies are going to end up on welfare, which is funded by the taxpayers.

Golly gee Oprah, aren’t you just full of surprises? You appear to be insinuating that Americans are terrified that eight little babies are going to bankrupt our already overstrained welfare system.

I wonder Oprah, how do you explain your support for Barack Obama then? Obama was/is clearly in favor of granting some sort of amnesty for those illegal aliens who already reside in our country. Obama, and all those in favor of any comprehensive immigration reform which grants those residing here illegally any pathway to citizenship can call it a pathway to citizenship if they want to, but it is still amnesty.

Would that not immediately allow at least 12 million people access to that same welfare system that you are so worried about? If Oprah believes the American people are so worried that these eight babies might end up on welfare, why did these same Americans vote for Obama when he clearly said, “America has nothing to fear from today’s immigrants. They have come here for the same reason that families have always come here–for the hope that in America, they could build a better life for themselves and their families.”

It seems Obama believes we have nothing to fear from those who illegally enter our country, even if it means that they will someday become further burdens upon our already strained welfare system, (especially in the midst of our current economic crisis.)

There is a woman who lives in Phoenix, Arizona, Marvien Comrique who became a naturalized citizen after marrying an American. She was a Rodeo Queen from Mexico and had no plans to enter our country illegally. She did, however, fall in love and eventually got married and became a U.S. citizen, all through legal channels.

Comrique now works at a mental health facility in Guadalupe, Arizona, and she deals with many clients who have family members who have entered the U.S. illegally. Comrique said that, while many come here seeking work, others come here solely for the benefits, a handout paid for by the taxpayers.

Comrique says many people say, “It’s treasure over here…” She went on to say that many illegal aliens come in saying, “Give me this, give me that.” She continued by saying, that she loves her people, and her country, “But they’re breaking the law, and you’re not supposed to reward them.”

Yet Barack Obama, the majority of the democratic party, and, apparently, a good portion of the people of this country, must also believe that we are supposed to reward those who enter this country illegally by giving them access to the handouts Oprah said many Americans are concerned might be given to eight babies born here legally.

Even if Obama, and the Democrats, are unsuccessful in ramming some sort of comprehensive immigration reform legislation down our throats, there is something else we should consider.

The 14th amendment to the Constitution was designed to ensure that the children born to slaves would be granted the same rights as children born to American citizens. However, it has been misinterpreted by the courts to grant citizenship to almost any child born on U.S. soil, which includes those born to illegal aliens.

According to research by Dr. Madeleine Pelner Cosman, taken from an essay in the Journal of Physicians and Surgeons, the annual number of children born to illegal aliens is somewhere between 300,000-350,000. These children are, therefore, born with all the rights of an American child due to the misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment, and therefore are eligible to receive benefits from our ‘already strained welfare system.’

For those reading this, according to Dr. Cosman, 96,000 of those children born to illegal aliens annually, are born right here in California, and we know how bad our states budget is strained.

It is not merely the welfare, and all the other social services, that is placing strains on our system. It is also the cost of educating these children, once again at taxpayer expense.

According to John L. Martin, who directs special projects for the Federation for American Reform, the states spent more than $16 billion, in 2004 alone, to educate 2 million children born to illegal aliens. He went on to say that California topped the list, spending $4.5 billion.

Oprah said Americans are worried that these eight newborn babies might end up on welfare. Oprah, and those who voted for Obama, need to worry about what all these illegal aliens are doing to our welfare system, as well as all our other systems.

Finally, it is not only our welfare and our other state services that Obama’s support of illegal aliens has affected, it is also the fact that he voted in favor of allowing illegal aliens to apply their time worked here towards Social Security. Obama wants those who come here illegally, work illegally, to be able to draw Social Security, when in all likelihood that system if bankrupt as well.

I think Oprah needs to think twice before opening her big mouth. Even as big as it is, she might find it difficult to fit that size 10-1/2 shoe into it. Eight small babies are not going to bankrupt welfare, but people like her, her candidate for President, and all those who voted for him, most likely will.

But then again, Oprah and Obama both have something in common, they make people feel good about themselves, even if it means people don’t think about the lies which are being fed to them. I guess that is what my purpose in life is, to expose those lies and hopefully, get people to think.

From the looks of things, I haven’t been doing such a good job.
