The Indiana Senate voted 42-8 today for a bill that would prohibit businesses, government or individuals from restricting gun owners from keeping a legally licensed weapon locked in their vehicle.
Senate Bill 11, sponsored by Sen. Johnny Nugent, R-Lawrenceburg, now moves to the Indiana House for consideration.
The bill has some exceptions – - including schools, universities and day care centers. But, Nugent argued, Hoosiers who want to carry guns for protection to and from work should be allowed to do so.
